To allow a full range of movement and flow during stretching, Ayurvedic Yoga Massage treatment is performed on a mat laid on the floor, similar to Thai massage.
Each treatment is adjusted to suit clients' needs, whether that is relaxing, energising, soothing, deep or remedial.

The treatment is initiated with a sequence to warm up the body, which allows the session to become a moving meditation.

During the treatment, a mixture of oil and ayurvedic herb - Acorus calamus - in the form of powder, is applied to the skin.

Ground Acorus calamus, a root of wetland plant from the sweet flag family, stimulates the flow of blood, which not only helps to further warm up the muscles but also supports the body’s detoxing processes as well as giving a pleasant, warm, exfoliating feeling.
WORKSHOPS

WHEN: 9th February 2025 WHERE: Waking Dreams TIME: 2.15 -4.45pm

-
Radically improve the quality of your life and relationships by gaining agency over your stress responses with these simple, accessible & effective self-regulation tools

-
Expect solo work and fun, interactive partner exercises

-
What you’ll learn here are not just relaxation techniques but skills that can be used quickly, whilst under pressure so amid challenge.

Resilience isn't about being tough.
To me, true resilience is ability to remain soft and adaptable in the face of adversity – a balance of a strong anchor, a flexible core, and present connection to the people and environment surrounding you.

We lose connection to the body and the present moment when we're triggered, anxious, stressed - it's a natural, mammalian response.
The part of our brain responsible for the connection to others, our values, our ability to think clearly and be creative, is impaired which results in us acting in an egotistic, dumb & dull way – think of yourself on a bad day... I’m sure you get the picture.
While yoga and meditation offer incredible benefits for overall wellbeing, they're not always practical in the heat of the moment. You can't step out for a yoga class during a challenging conversation with your boss, an argument with your partner, or an important presentation, right?
What you can do is to learn some simple tools that will help you gain more control over the stress response - tools you can practice and apply anywhere and at any time: during an argument, while driving and even under water. These are not just relaxation techniques but skills that can be used quickly, whilst under pressure so amid challenge.
Expect solo work + fun, interactive partner exercises focused on revealing how a distress response shows up in your body and how (with practice) you can effectively manage it to your benefit.
Dress comfortably, bring a water bottle and an open mind and join to learn how to turn stress into a catalyst for personal growth and improved interpersonal relationships. This workshop is beneficial if you have ADHD and equally helpful if you’re neurotypical.
We offer a sliding scale accessible pricing for those who need it. If this is you please email bookings@wakingdreams.co.

Real Experiences From Past Participants:
Jo is a pillar of wisdom and is extremely articulate, passionate and grounded. Receiving their knowledge has had a lasting effect on me, and has changed the way I move through the day ultimately bringing me more peace and ease in life. It’s quite remarkable how these shifts in consciousness that are so simple can be so profound.
I am no longer grasping for peace, rather I have a way to generate it from within. The only thing that saddens me is that not everybody has these tools- yet.
Jo makes this knowledge so accessible, clear and grounded and everything is explained so well for the layman like me. I will take them with me for life. I wholeheartedly believe in the skills I have learnt, in Jo as a teacher and leader and that these lessons can make not only my world but the whole world a better place.
Amazing! Jo really knows their stuff. They are so knowledgeable. They easily explained and answered all our questions. I loved how practical this workshop was. I feel I have a good understanding of the theory but also how to implement it into my daily life. Feel really enthused, excited and empowered coming away from it!
Jo is a force to be reckoned with and has created a really unique and helpful class. They set out techniques we can continue practising and carrying through life, to constantly improve and see benefits in the long term. I’m in the process of unlocking skills I didn’t even know were there to be unlocked! I didn’t realise how helpful embodiment would be for me as a neurodivergent person with ADHD. I am often disconnected to my body, I often get sensory overload, and often struggle with my nervous system being too heightened or too low at various points throughout the day. I hold stress in my body and get burnt out. Jo taught us techniques in the workshop to control our body “state” and help make our nervous system work for us, not against us. We learnt how to deal with our fight or flight response, and how to use techniques to spot patterns and avoid getting into fight or flight when we don’t need to be. Embodiment practices are helping me to unlock a really powerful feedback loop in my body, and it’s already proving immensely helpful. I’ll definitely keep practising and will be using these techniques regularly!

-
No previous experience necessary - this workshop is my encouragement for anyone to get more confident with their touch.

-
This is a floor based practice so you don’t need to worry about a massage bed - you can practice at home - the floor, sofa, bed, anywhere!

-
I’ll show you how to use your body mindfully so you don’t sabotage your comfort when giving a massage!

-
Bring a friend/partner/sibling/flatmate so you can skill share after this class or come on your own and make new friends!
Giving a massage is a loving act of service. In many traditions, family members, partners, and friends give each other massages as an act of community care. Here in Western society, most of us perceive massage as a luxury rather than a preventative practice and a loving act of service.
This workshop is my encouragement to reconnect with this old community care practice. It can feel intimidating if you don't know where to start, but with some guidance, I assure you it can also be simple and intuitive. I will show you some basic head, neck, and face massage techniques that you can perform on your friends or loved ones to help them release tension at the end of a tough day, soothe their anxiety, and add a new skill to your intimacy-building toolkit. This is not professional training, and you will not receive a certification; it’s simply a class in life skills that can help you and your loved ones live a life with more ease and connection.
We offer a sliding scale accessible code for those who need it. Email bookings@wakingdreams.co if this is you

After the success of April’s workshop, Hannah and I will be bringing Body Wisdom to you again to guide you through the month of May. As we transition through seasons, cycles and societal shifts, it’s essential we are deeply attuned to our bodies’ and the inner landscape of ourselves. This will enable you to feel more grounded, connected and intuitive.
If you journeyed with us last month, this is an opportunity for you to move deeper into yourself. We will also be offering additional practices during May’s workshop.
During this workshop, we will explore intuitive and somatic movement, breath-work and self-touch which will:
-
Ground you and balance your autonomic nervous system
-
Evolve your body awareness and deepen a connection with your body
-
Explore self-massage to give your body what it needs, an empowering practice to repeat in your own time
-
Evoke a greater sense of self-compassion and self-care
-
Be a safe space for you to explore your bodies’ somatic intelligence and wisdom within

When was the last time you were deeply present within your body?
Allowed it to speak to you and intuitively guide you, rather than letting it be governed by the mind?
Our bodies hold so much wisdom. Beyond the layers of sensation and feeling, we can delve into a place of deeper reckoning and meaning, insight and intuition. When we bypass the body, we miss vital clues that can help guide us in everyday aspects of our lives.
This two-hour womxn only workshop will provide you with a safe space to cultivate a curious connection to yourself through intuitive movement and self-massage. Combining meditation, intuitive and embodied awareness, movement and touch, Hannah and Joanna will hold an online space for you to deeply explore and meet your body.
Hannah is a yoga teacher and training yoga therapist who truly believes in the power of mind-body medicine, from evidence-based therapeutic yoga and movement therapies to esoteric healing modalities. Joanna is an Ayurvedic yoga massage therapist, energy worker and crystal intuitive who advocates creating deep body awareness through compassionate self-care, awareness and stillness.
For this workshop you will need:

-
A yoga mat or a soft floor space to move on
-
Cushions, blankets or anything to make you comfortable
-
Massage oil + your favourite essential oils & a towel
-
A quiet environment

If you attended the last Body Wisdom workshop, we would LOVE to see you again for a deeper dive into your bodies’ intelligence.
This workshop is available on a sliding scale with the option to pay the lower rate if you’re out of work or on low income. If cost is an issue and you’d like to join, please send me an email.
