Medicinal immunity booster raw cacao tonic recipe

Updated: Apr 28, 2020

I'm working on a superfood recipe ebook for you!

I don't know about you but I am feeling a little cold again and have been craving a warming drink today and I thought I'd share one of my favourite immunity-boosting recipes.

• Immunity booster cacao tonic •

Ingredients:

200ml plant mylk ( my preference is oat but you can use whatever you like/have)

2 tbsp of raw cacao powder (not to be mistaken with processed cocoa!)

1-inch fresh ginger

few drops of vanilla essence or half of vanilla pod

1/2 tsp cinnamon (I recommend Ceylon cinnamon also called 'true cinnamon' but you can us the widely avaialble Cassia version)

2 cloves

pinch of cayenne pepper

pich of salt

You will need:

a small pot

a small strainer or a sieve

Nutribullet/blender or other similar mixing device (optional)

Grate or slice your ginger.

If you're using a vanilla pod - cut it in half along the length of the pod and scrape up the insides with the blunt edge of the knife.

Pour your plant mylk into the pot and start heating it up on low heat, add all the ingredients and stir. Keep it on low heat and stir, checking the temperature every now and get - make sure you don't overheat the mylk.

Once it's nice and warm you can pour it through a strainer (to catch the cloves and ginger pieces - you won't need these anymore) into your Nutribullet or other mixer and blend it together - this way your drink will have a uniform and creamy consistency.

If you don't have a blender, just make sure you stir all the ingredients nicely.

You can sweeten it a little bit if you like - honey or maple syrup would be my recommendation but I personally don't use a sweetener.

Pour into your favourite mug, take a moment to delight in the aroma of your magic cacao tonic and sip it slowly.

Enjoy!
